Alright here is a recipe that I had to try because it sounded pretty complicated by the looks and taste of it, but this is something my family is used to ordering at the restaurant … I made some Paneer Butter Masala and it was just a breeze going through this recipe. Now if you don’t get panneer (Cottage cheese) you can use Tofu to replace it, that’s if you like the taste 🙂 I also used the following measurements because it was my first try, plus this recipe claimed to give you a restaurant taste hehe ….
- Paneer – 2 cups
- Onion – chopped fine
- ginger & garlic paste – 1tbsp
- coriander powder – 1 tbsp
- garam masala – 1 tsp
- chilli powder – 1 tsp
- tomato paste – 1 tbsp
- tomato sauce – 1tbsp
- fenugreek – 1 generous pinch
- milk – 1/2 cup
- cream – 1 cup
- oil – 3 tbsp
- salt to taste
Heat 2tbsp oil in a pan and fry the paneer until it turns golden brown. Drain it on some absorbent paper and set aside.
Add a tbsp of oil to the same pan and add the onions and fry the onins. Next add the ginger garlic paste and stir fry it with the onions.
Then add the masalas: coriander powder, garam masala and the chilli powder. Add the required salt to taste.
Mix up the masalas with the onions and ginger-garlic paste. Add the tomato paste, tomato sauce and fenugreek powder.
After mixing it well, add milk. Lower heat and cook covered for 5mins.
Open the lid and add the fried paneer and cream. Mix well and simmer for 3-4mins.
Garnish with fresh coriander.
Serve with some naan or hot rice!
