Making Pita chips at home is not only easy but so much more cheaper than store bought pita chips. These are great for a quick snack and perfect in lunch boxes along with a little dip. It’s one of our family favorites and always creates a bit of excitement when the family knows I am using the left over pita bread to make these chips!
- 3 Pita Bread cut into shapes / triangles
- 4 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp Herb Seasoning
- 1 tsp garlic salt
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan (optional)
- 1/4 tsp chilli flakes (optional)
Preheat oven to 180C.
Cut the pita bread into shapes – I sometimes cut it neatly into triangles or squares, other times I just rip it up with my hands.
In a large bowl mix together the seasoning, salt and olive oil. Add the cut pita bread to the bowl and give it a good toss. Add cheese and chilli flakes if you prefer. We love adding some grated parmesan in ours.
Lay it out evenly on a non-stick baking tray and bake for roughly 20-30mins or until the pita bread has turned a nice golden brown color. It needs to be crunchy but not super brown, so keep an eye on it so that it doesn’t burn.
Remove from the oven and let it cool. Serve it up with some dips of your choice. We like it with some home-made hummus andMoutabel / babaghannoush. As an alternative to croutons, add these pita chips to your salad.
